FIFTY
Fifty is a high stakes drama directed by Niyi Bandele, produced by
Tope Oshin Ogun and written by Bola Agbaje and Kemi Adesoye. It stars Ireti
Doyle, Nse Ikpe Etim, Omoni Obole and
Dakore Akande.
Synopsis: The film puts in sharp
focus, the events in the lives of four successful working class
women which force them to take a critical
look at their lives as they approach fifty while trying to strike a balance
between career and family all within the context of the demands of a typical
Nigerian society.
Of the four women, Elizabeth is
an accomplished obstetrician whose compulsive attraction to younger men has
strained her relationship with her daughter. Tola is a successful reality TV
star whose marriage is threatened by a dark family secret. Maria, 49, is
burdened with the weight of an unexpected pregnancy, the result of an affair
with a married man and Kate the last of the four, is transforming into a
religious zealot as she struggles with a fatal illness.
Fifty also features special
appearances by King Sunny Ade, Femi Kuti, Nneka, Waje and Tiwa Savage. Produced
under the Ebonylife Film banner and distributed by FilmOne Distribution, the
film runs for 101 minutes and premiered
on December 18, 2015.
GBOMO GBOMO EXPRESS
Gbomo Gbomo Express is directed by Walter Taylaur
with Jeffery Taylaur, Kevin Taylaur and Walter Taylaur as producers. It was
written by Walter Taylaur and casts Ramsey Nouah, Osas Ighodaro, Blossom
Chukwujekwu, Gideon Okeke, Kiki Omeili, Alexx Ekubo, Shaffy Bello, Ikechukwu
and Gbenro Ajibade.
Synopsis: GGE follows the
misadventure of three hustlers turn kidnappers who kidnap a popular
record label boss and his socialite friend for an expected ransom of N50 million. As the plot thickens and
things spiral out of control, the leader of the kidnapping trio has to confront
and come to terms with his deceitful and unfaithful girlfriend as well as keep
in check and outsmart his crazy, backstabbing and doublecrossing friend and
partner in crime.
GGE was produced under the
WaltBanger 101 production outfit, distributed by FilmOne Distribution, runs for
98 minutes and premiered on October 2, 2015.
FALLING
Falling is a romantic drama flick
directed by Niyi Akinmolayan and produced and written by Uduak Isong Ogwamanam.
It features Adesua Etomi, Kunle Rhemmy, Blossom Chukwujekwu, Desmond Elliot,
Tamara Eteimo and Koffi Adjorlolo in leading roles.
Synopsis: The film chronicles the
love story of a young couple: Muna (played by Adesua Etomi) and Imoh (Kunle
Remy). When Imoh is left bedridden in a coma after an
accident, their seemingly unbreakable bond soon comes under assault. Will Muna
hold out and remain loyal or succumb to the pressure of outside forces.
Falling was put together under
the Closer Pictures production company with a budget of N10 million and distributed by the FilmOne Distribution network. It
premiered nationwide in Nigeria on September 18, 2015.
FIRSTLADY
Firstlady is a fairy tale drama
with a Nigerian twist. Written, directed and produced by Omoni Oboli, it’s
ensemble of casts include Omoni Oboli, Joseph Benjamin, Chinedu Ikedieze, Alexx
Ekubo, Yvonne Jegede, Udoka Oyeka and Tony Monjaro.
Synopsis: Michelle (Omoni Oboli) is a woman fed up with life as a prostitute. Her fantastic dreams of a rich and charming saviour is
turned on its head when her path crosses with that of Kenechi, heir to a vast
business conglomerate, who has been transformed into a child by a greedy and
ruthless uncle. By fate’s mischievous design, it would appear she had become
the rescuer all the while trying to escape the grip of her dangerous pimp who
would stop at nothing to maintain his hold on her.
Fisrt lady is produced by Bioni Visions
Entertainment and premiered in Nigeria on October 15, 2015.
LUNCHTIME HEROES
Lunch Time Heroes is a family
comedy directed by Seyi Babatope, with Don Omope and Seyi Babatope as producers
and the trio of Moses Babatope, Diche Enunwa and Kene Okwuosa as screenwriters.
Its list of cast include Dakore Akande, Omoni Oboli, Diana Yekini, Tina Mba and
Tope Tedela.
Synopsis: Lunch Time Heroes
follows the sojourn of a corper, Banke (Diana Yekini) who is posted
to a high school where she has to earn the respect of both students and faculty
who do not want her around.
The film was shot by PHB Films in
collaboration with FilmOne Productions on a N15
million budget. Distributed by FilmOne Distribution, runs for 88 minutes and
premiered on August 28, 2015.
TAXI DRIVER
Taxi Driver is a comedy thriller
directed by Daniel Oriahi, produced by Don Omope, Ayobami Macaulay and Daniel
Oriahi; and written by Abara Amanze, Yemi Nexus Adebami and Victor Negro. The
film features Odunlade Adekola, Femi Jacobs, Ijeoma Grace Agu, Hafeez Oyetoro,
Richard Akinlade, Babajide Alimison, Toyin Oshinaike and Kelechi Udegbe.
Synopsis; This film follows the peculiar occurrences of night life in Lagos experienced through
the eyes of Adigun, a newcomer to Lagos working the night shift as a taxi
driver and has to cope with the excesses of characters such as a prostitute called
Delia, an unseen night vigilante and the notorious “three wise men” assassination
gang.
Taxi Driver is the product of the
collaboration between FilmOne Productions, House 5 Production and Orbit Imagery
on a N10 million budget, runs for 110
minutes and is distributed by FilmOne Distribution. It premiered nationwide in
Nigeria on November 13, 2015.
STALKER
Stalker is a feature film
directed and written by Moses Inwang, produced by Caroline Danjuma and stars
Nse Ikpe Etim, Jim Iyke, Emem Inwang, Caroline Danjuma, Ayo “AY” Makun, Anthony
Monjaro, Omawumi Megbele and Eniola “Niyola” Akinbo.
Synopsis: A psychological
thriller, stalker explores the world of stylist Kaylah Lawal (Nse
Ikpe Etim) who is saved from headhunters by an executive cab driver who she out of gratitude invites to her home for breakfast. Life seems to have
shifted back to normal until the cab driver begins to show up everywhere she
goes displaying sociopathic behaviours which makes it clear that her life might
be in grave danger.
The production outfit credited
with this film is Sneeze Films alongside Kinetic Media. It premiered February
26, 2016.
